Anti-Ragging Cell

Government College of Art & Craft, Calcutta strictly follows the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the college campus and hostels.

Students are advised to maintain discipline, mutual respect and a healthy academic environment. Any act of ragging will attract severe disciplinary action as per UGC regulations and Government norms.

Nomenclature of Ragging

Ragging includes any conduct by a student or group of students that causes physical, psychological or emotional harm, fear, embarrassment, humiliation or intimidation to another student.

  • Teasing, abusing or playing practical jokes on fellow students.
  • Physical assault, threats or intimidation.
  • Forcing students to perform acts against their will.
  • Verbal abuse including offensive language and remarks.
  • Financial extortion or coercion.
  • Sexual harassment or inappropriate behaviour.
  • Any activity affecting the mental health or dignity of a student.

Anti-Ragging Guidelines

  • Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited.
  • Every student must maintain discipline and respect fellow students.
  • Students must immediately report incidents of ragging.
  • Anonymous complaints may also be investigated.
  • The institution shall take immediate action against offenders.
  • Parents and guardians may be informed regarding disciplinary proceedings.
  • Suspension, rustication or expulsion may be imposed depending upon the severity of the offence.

UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has framed regulations to prevent and prohibit ragging in all higher educational institutions in India.

Government College of Art & Craft, Calcutta strictly adheres to these regulations and maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging.

Students found guilty of ragging are liable for disciplinary and legal action as per UGC Regulations and relevant laws.

How to Lodge a Complaint

  1. Visit the National Anti-Ragging Portal.
  2. Register yourself using a valid email address and mobile number.
  3. Provide complete details of the incident.
  4. Upload supporting documents or evidence if available.
  5. Submit the complaint and note the complaint reference number.
  6. Track complaint status through the Anti-Ragging Portal.

Anti-Ragging Affidavit

Every student and parent/guardian shall submit an Anti-Ragging Affidavit at the time of admission as per UGC regulations.

The affidavit confirms that the student has read and understood the anti-ragging regulations and agrees to abide by all rules and disciplinary measures prescribed by the institution.

Submission of the Anti-Ragging Affidavit is mandatory for all students seeking admission to the institution.

Government College of Art & Craft, Calcutta maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against ragging.

Students are encouraged to report any incident of ragging immediately to the Anti-Ragging Committee, concerned faculty members or the National Anti-Ragging Helpline.
